Nichts für Kalorienzähler: Das OETTINGER Bock ist bestes Starkbier, süffig und würzig – NULL LIGHT, dafür kräftig im Geschmack. Der Legende nach suchten Mönche in der Fastenzeit etwas Genussvolles, um sich bei Laune zu halten. Sie schickten dem Papst ein Fass Bockbier, um seine Erlaubnis einzuholen. Auf der langen Reise verdarb das Bier und wurde sauer. Der Papst probierte: Das Gebräu schmeckte nach Sühne. Gnädig ließ er den Mönchen ihren Willen.

Bottle: Deep golöden to light amber coloured, mid-sized fluffy, quickly collapsing off-white head; faint aromas of ground coffee, dark-malt and roasted malt combined with a tinge of bitterness; moderate sweetish-bitter flavour, medium- to full-bodied, a bit fizzy MF; delicate sweetish-bitter finish. Not bad for a brewery, that produces mainly cheap beer.........

(bottle) Clear, amber colour with a medium-sized, slightly off-white foamy head. Moderately sweet and light toasty malt aroma with a tinge of caramel, light notes of dried fruits and a present hoppy note. Sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate, pleasant carbonation. Solid malty taste, slightly toasted with light caramelly notes; sweet toast-malty and almost slim finish for a Bock with a light hop-bitter blend and a well-integrated and warming touch of alcohol. Easy-going, low-price Bock of decent quality.

Bottle, 6.7%. Quite sweet aroma. Clear grey/brown colour. OK stable tan head. The flavour is sweet and peppery, a little caramel and a mild finish. Actually OK.
