Boston has a long, rich history of brewing. By the late 1800s, over 30 breweries existed inside Boston's city limits, making it one of America's largest brewing hubs. Inspired by Boston's brewing glory days, Samuel Adams Boston Brick Red has a distinct caramel flavor from pale and caramel malts, and a deep red color reminiscent of the historic red brick at the Samuel Adams Boston brewery. This one of a kind beer has historically only been found on tap in Boston, making it impossible to take home this piece of the city's brewing history.... Until now. Cheers!

Location: Draft at Doyle's, 7/9/13

Aroma: The nose is caramel and fruit with some hop notes as well
Appearance: Dark caramel-reddish color, clear and clean, with a beige head, and mid-plus lace
Flavor: It has a medium sweet flavor, some clean hop notes, and a mild bitterness
Palate: It has a medium body, a nice, creamy feel on the mouth, and a soft carbonation
Overall Impression: I thought that this was a pretty tasty red. It came off as a bit more sweet than hoppy, but it stays fairly close to balanced.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a deep amber almost red with a decent sized tan head that shows great retention. Smells of malty caramel and toffee with just enough earthy floral hops to make it a Sam Adams beer. The taste is a little sweet and a bit malty with a great Irish Red caramel feel to it. Spicy earthy hops provide some balance to the sweetness. Medium body with a moderate to spirited level of carbonation and a sweet malty mouthfeel. This is a nice Irish Red with a bit of a kick in the hops. I liked it a bit.

Tap handle says "Boston Brick Red". Pours clear red into a shaker. Tan head with medium retention recedes leaving little lacing. Slight caramel aromas. Crisp yet full with caramel and bright pit fruit. Slight hops to the finish. I don’t believe this version is 9.9%....
