Halland is a place near Uckfield, in our hearts... where Magnum, Columbus and Willamette met one winter's night to create the world's hugest smash stout. Big, bold, oh-so creamy, toasty and dark, it's the perfect chill down tipple.

Keg draught at the Pavement Vaults, York. Very dark brown with very little translucency. A fairly big khaki head leaving light spotty lacing. Burnt malt character in the aroma, some smoked coffee, beechwood. Tastes bittersweet, hints of blackberry in the initial sip, with heavy bittering hops overtaking in the finish. Very well-rounded. Medium body, fairly heavy carbonation. A joy to drink and the beer of this trip (so far).

5/6/2023. Can bought at Beerarama, Eastbourne enjoyed at Shore View Hotel. Pours very dark brown with a small fizzy beige head. Aroma is milk chocolate, roasted malt, oatmeal, caramel, camp coffee. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Moderate body, quite fizzy. Tangy roasted finish. Decent.

Cask at Egham Beer Fest. Aroma had a liquorice streak. Dark brown opaque. Bubbly beige head retreats to the rim. Espresso and liquorice bitterness. That's about it. Light-medium bodied. Thin cream. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. Enjoyable if not overly exciting.
