Recently, some fresh picked, skunky, funky smelling green hops showed up at the brewery. It was HARVEST TIME. Each year, right around the time that the weather starts to cool, fresh sticky hops are picked off of the vine and sent to us overnight so we can use them in a "Fresh Hop" or "Harvest" ale. This is done quickly so we can use these little guys before they lose a single bit of their intensely dank aromas and flavors.

Pretty nice. Resiny hop nose, a little stanky locker room. Nice malt, provides cushion to the hops but is unobtrusive. Semi-balanced, very drinkable if a bit too big.

Bottle shared at the 8th Richmond Industry Gathering, 12/1/13. Pours a clear golden color with a thin off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of peppery, herbal, pine hops, caramel malts. The taste is green, resin and pine hops, caramel malts. Medium bodied.

Pours hazy amber color with off white head. Aromas of pine, tropical fruits and some caramel. Similar flavors, but more malty and less hoppy than I prefer. Medium body with average carbonation.

750 courtesy of BMMillsy. It pours with a murky amber body that has gold edges and supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up modest levels of pine and slivers of apple and pear fruity sweetness as well as a touch of biscuit like maltiness. The taste is pretty pine like up front and it gets to resiny hop bitterness in parts. There’s also an odd mix of lager like yeasty sweet fruit esters such as apples and faint pear notes with sweet malts and slivers of roasted malts off in the background. Interesting.

GABF 2013. Pours a bit hazy dark orange appearance with a light tan head. Really fresh and spicy hoppy, piney and dank, grapefruity, a bit herbal aroma. Tasty easy drinker. Light caramel, piney hops, grapefruit, lemon flavor. Would drink again.
