Sample at the taproom. Flat black color with a medium creamy tan head that recedes gradually to a film. Small patches of lacing. Roast malt, chocolate and coffee aroma. Light-bodied with a roasty malt and coffee character, with cocoa in the background. The finish is mild coffee and malt. Decent overall.

Chugging from a bomber in Red Rocks parking lot before Wilco show. Deep brown/black appearance with a brown head. Fairly chocolate, espresso, vanilla, oaty aroma. A bit creamy, vanilla, milky, dark chocolate, light coffee flavor. Not that hard to drink but nothing special.

Bomber - fizzy, cola-like pour - this seems to be suffering from the early onset of an infection - oxidation, stale maltiness, a papery character - a mild tartness that seems like it would have soon turned into a sourness - this seems to be a problem with their bottled products - seems like it was probably a good stout when it went in the bottle, though - coffee, toasty character, bittersweet chocolate - but it is all subordinate to the infection - moderate acidity in the finish - maybe they just need to stop bottling?
