Dark brown beer, with a thick, fizzy lace - aroma of roast, vanilla bean, chocolate, doughy character - full carbonation, creamy mouthfeel - fairly sweet at first, with strong vanilla and cookie dough - starts to develop some roast and coffee bitterness through the middle, which eventually dominates the finish, but sweetness still lingers, reminding one of sweetened black coffee - a bit sweet overall, but decent.

Bottled. Dark color, thick off-white head. Aroma of grinded coffee, some chocolat, hint of blackcurrant. Malty taste, coffee, quite bitter, slight alcohol burn. Ok stuff.

Bottle: Pours a deep, rich brown that is near black. Tiny thin head. Smells rich with roasty malt and light chocolate tones. Tastes roasty and sweet. Chocolate and malt with a little bitters in the trailer. A little light in the flavor intensity. Decent. Thanks to sparky27 for sending this one.

Courtesy of Gunhaver. Pours deep darkness with a thin tan head. The aroma is roasty with mild burnt malts, faint nuttiness and some alcohol heat. The taste is porter-like with notes of chocolate, fruit cake, vanilla and some tasty burnt malt notes. Very nice roasty to toffee to burnt malts into the finish. Yum.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of nicolascage. Clear, dark brown with a reddish hue and a rough, off-white head. Vinous aroma of roasted malts. Full body rich in sweet, roasted malt, some dried fruit - prunes in particular - and a subdued bitternes. Pleasant alright. 201107

RB#2222: 22 fl oz bottle. Pours deep brown to black and with a dense light brown head. Roasted malt, chocolate and slight hoppy aroma. Flavour is dry liqourice and slight roasted malt flavour, but dominated by liqourice. Finish holds a nice hoppy bitterness breaking the dark malt and liqourice note. Nice one.

Why not a porter? It does have considerable hops. The aroma has quite of a bit of chocolate and and light coffee. Flavor is medium sweet with roasted malt and more chocolate. Very smooth on the palate.

Bottle. Dark brown body with light brown head. Aroma of sweet, roasted malt, coffee and alcohol. First impression of the flavor is rather interesting. Coffee, vanilla, pepper and alcohol. After a few more sips, this beer is tasting more ordinary. It’s a rather fine beer, but nothing extraordinary at all.
