Sample at Kurtkeller 015: Coffee-tastic 02 on 07/05/2014. Dark amber-brown color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee, malt and fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of raw coffee beans, burnt malt and fruit. The finish is roasty with an earthy malt and coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap at the brewery - hazy orange - oily.texture in the mouth - flavor is very sweet, toffee - lots of diacetyl and dms (boiled cabbage) in the flavor - hot finish - pretty messy - they’ve been struggling with high abv beers lately.

Tap at the brewery - lightly hazy copper - small ring of lace - I often like light beers infused with coffee if they are done well - this one is okay - the flavor of the coffee bean is incorporated fairly well, especially in the nose - however, in the flavor a bit too much of the acidity has been extracted and the bittering hops don’t completely compliment the coffee bean flavor - lightly oily - light to medium body - some notes of vanilla - slightly vegetal finish, but the lingering coffee covers it well - okay.

Tap @ brewery. Dark orange appearance with a cream colored head with little head retention. Roasty, dark coffee grounds that mostly mask the other elements of the nose. Roasty, almost burnt, dark coffee ground over a slight piney, sweet malty flavor. The coffee grounds really dominate the flavor and that’s not an attraction in my mind. Not horrible either.
