This beer is a floral ode to Saint Dorothea, patron saint of beer brewers, fruit traders and florists. Dorothea is sentenced to death for her faith. During her torture, a child appears with a basket containing two apples and three roses. That fragrant basket makes her torturer believe. Dorothea is absorbed in glory and a shine of it is in this bottle.

Dorothea is a SMASH (Single Malts and Single Hops). In this case Dutch Pale Ale malts and Austrian Sorachi Ace Hops. We strive to use as many Dutch and other European products as possible.

Taste: Floral, fruity (tangerine) and slightly bitter.

From tap at De Drie Dorstige Herten, Utrecht. More grainy than I expected with sweet almost creamy malt, modest hop, touch of caramel. Medium bitter, fairly sweetish. Different, sweet and grainy with bittering hop. Doesn't have the bubble gum associated with Sorachi hop.

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, orange golden colour with average, fluffy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Minimally bready, pale malty, slightly floral hoppy and minimally yeasty spicy aroma, hints of white bread crust, whiffs of pepper. Taste is minimally bready and spicy, pale malty with some residual sweetness, slightly floral and minimally fruity hoppy, minimally yeasty spicy as well, a touch of yellow stone fruit, black pepper, white pepper. Watery texture, smooth and minimally dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Balanced, refreshing - nice.
