Close for Comfort is a blend of 22 month old calvados barrel aged rye wine, a Templeton rye barrel and two small format Rockfilter barrels containing 19 month old Barleywine we brewed with maple sap in place of water. We conditioned this barrel aged blend on house toasted coconut, roasted pecans and vanilla bean caviar. The resulting flavor is reminiscent of butter pecan ice cream drizzled with bourbon. We created this pastry style barleywine to drink fresh with family and friends during the winter alongside your favorite holiday dessert.

MBCC. Hazy very dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, dried fruit and bourbon. Flavor is very sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish. Oily and soft. 130522

Tap at MBCC2022, Copenhagen. Color is very dark brown with very small head. Aromas and flavors: Bourbon, chocolate, some milk chocolate, nuts, malts...heavy.

Bottle from Beer Dome. Dark brown with beige head. Sweet, syrupy. Loads of dried fruit, toffee, a bit of bourbon heat. Great stuff.

750ml bottle @ Pien, Helsinki. Sweet, heavy with syrup, bourbon, toffee, figs and prunes, hints of green apples and rye. Quite sweet.

Thick, oily, sweet and boozy. Bourbon, dates, figs, maple syrup, dark berries. Smooth and rich, oerfectly balanced. Fantastic.

Pours very dark brown, no head. Scent is full, maple, mild dried fruits. Medium intense. Taste is full, quite intense, maple-forward. Mild bitterness. Dried fruits. intense and a very unique beer. malty, dried fruits. Lovely !
