Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of wavers1. Pours a hazy amber with a small off-white head. Tart, Bretty aroma with some sweet underlying overripe plums. Solid body, sweet plummy, sweet vanilla woodish, quite a lot of Bourbon. No real bitterness. Lovely interplay between the Brett, the Bourbon and the booze. 170611

Bottle shared by John, thanks! Poured a cloudy reddish brown with a brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of sweet grain, caramel, light fruit and bourbon. Flavor had growing sweet grain and caramel with a bit of light fruit and bourbon. Didn’t really notice any brett characteristics, but still enjoyed the beer.

22 ounce bottle courtesy of Bankhead. Thanks! Pours a clear cranberry color with a thin brown head.Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of bourbon, toffee, spicy hops, berry notes and a faint bit of brett. The taste is bourbon, toffee, a bit of brett, some cherries and berries, maple and a slight vegetal note. Medium-full bodied. Decent beer.

Bottle (red wax, brett edition). Pours with a fading tan head over a murky amber body. Some alcohol legs. Aroma of bourbon, tanginess, pineapple (both fresh and caramelized), caramel, wood, lots of alcohol, persimmons, leather, toffee, chocolate, burnt toast, menthol, candied dates and cranberries. Taste is alcohol, wet wood, light tangy fruits, tannins, sweet, alcohol, loads of toffee, caramelized pineapple. Lively bubbles, creamy and warming,

Tap, City Beer Store. I like Old Dipsea a lot, and I enjoy the normal bourbon barrel version. The mild brett character makes this one a touch better, right now. It’s still a big sweet, thick barleywine. Both brett and bourbon barrel take a back seat to the barleywine flavors. Lots of sweet caramel candy malt and gentle hops. The time in the barrel takes the bit off the hops nicely. Some vanilla and oak - Heaven Hill barrels always seem to do good things for beer. It will be very interesting to see where this beer heads with age.
