Built from the backbone of Stone's classic Imperial Russian Stout, Stone Totalitarian Imperial Russian Stout certainly celebrates the hallmarks of the style - it pours jet-black with a fluffy chocolate head and tastes of deeply dark fruit flavors with rich chocolate and coffee overtones. Yet, however old world in nature, this particular rendition of an IRS is flavored with new world hops, intensifying its berry flavors and aroma while subtly introducing a juicy melon undertone. The result is a spectacularly sinful delight. Don't say we didn't warn you, comrade.

In 2017, we took a year off from releasing this amazing beer, causing some to worry that this was the end of an era. But in 2018, this deep, dark stout returns as big as ever and with a few upgrades. We added flaked oats for a smooth mouth feel and Belma hops, which round out the dark fruit component, providing an ever so slight hop edge.

30-06-20 // bottle. Bottled 21 Feb 2018. rich and decadent Imperial Russian Stout. Classic, no adjuncts yet rich in taste. Dark chocolate, some coffee and dark berry fruit touches. A roast bitterness. Rich mouthfeel. Great. Drink at warmer temperatures and let it sit for a while for the carbonation to settle.

Pitch black, mocha head. The aroma is dark treacle, roasty slightly smoky dark malts. Taste: where it needs to be - correct dark malt sweetness with the right roast, smoke, alcohol and bitterness. A spec book impy.

On Tap Black pour with redish amber edges. Modest tan head. Lots of dark roast, molasses, licorice, dark chocolate in the aromas and flavors. Thick smooth palate and some sweet. If this is indeed leveraged directly off of the original iconic RIS...it is an improvement.

0,33 l bottle. Pours almost black with a couple of fingers of thick, lasting, rocky light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, caramel, light licorice, light alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and medium to heavy bitter. Body is full, mouthfeel oily, almost thick. Finish is very long, coffee and caramel are slowly overpowered by heavy, slightly roasty bitterness and after it fades roasted malt flavor still remains. Excellent morning beer.

Bottle, 0.355l. Black pour, one finger frothy brown head. Medium to long lasting, good retention. Lots of lacing on the glass. Strong on the nose. Heavily malty, roasty, caramel notes. Sugar and liquor. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Thick texture, oily, creamy mouthfeel. Roasty bittersweet taste. Rich aroma, caramel malt, toffee, sugar. Roasted malt, figs, dried fruits. Liquor, molasses. Syrupy. Cocoa and chocolate, sticky. Long lasting finish, dry and liquory. Lingering subtle alcohol burn on the tongue, nicely warming. Pretty good Imperial Stout. Tasty.

big black fierce eye. No real nose. Also no real head from the tap, disappointing. Taste is one big straight up ass impy stout, no doubt about it. Strong and arrogant fer sher. Rude, but in a civilized manner? Not sher. Mouth coating. Finishes like a good tuff stout.

On tap at Craft Room, Opatovina Zagreb. Black, small creamy lasting beige head. Aroma is dark malts, fruit, alcohol. Quite hot. Fruit jam, honey, molasses. Flavour is malty, fruity, chocolate in the back. Spicy alcohol, quite dry, bitterness obvious in the finish. Drinkable except for the alcohol. Lacks complexity, other than that, done by the book. Liked the bitter component. Would love to see it age.
