Sample at Trail's End. Black color, with a small, bubbly, tan head. The aroma is mild coffee, maple syrup, pipe tobacco, and toast. Sweet and malty, with a smooth, roasty bitterness. Light body, with a smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Quite mellow, balanced, and tasty.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black with small beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong roast coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla bean. Medium body, rich, dark chocolate, roast coffee, bitter finish, very nice.

10 ounce at the brewery - first of all, I fucking love Thump coffee at the beans they used in this are what I always get for my cappuccino when I go there - so I am a little bias here - the coffee is very apparent/strong, but unlike a lot of beers with such strong coffee, there is not an abrasive acidity or too strong a roastiness, so robust coffee flavor with a relative smoothness overall - the light smoke, vanilla, and berry from the base beer work well with th strong coffee - I like it very much.
