Taster at the brewery. Pours a dark, orangish, brown color, with a small, fizzy, tan head. Nice peat smoke aroma, with some caramel, toast, and grains. Sweet and malty, with a light bitterness. Medium to heavy body, with an excellent, heavy, and sharp mouthfeel. This is a lovely scotch ale. Great malty flavor, and the harsh palate just works.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a murky reddish-amber color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Malt, fruit and caramel aroma. Medium to full body with flavors of caramel malt, ripe fruit and earthy hop. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a cloudy copper with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong caramel and nuts. Medium body, caramel, bread, nice sweetness, very good.
