12 ounce can. Pours a dark mahogany color with a medium white head. A big malty fruity nose. Sweet, toast, some cherries. Smooth. Pretty big flavors, some toffee. Good.

Draft at the brewpub. Dark reddish color with a sheeting beige head/coating lace. Sweet, caramel malt. Sticky. Not my thing, but fine.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark copper with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is licorice and toasted malt. Medium body, licorice, caramel, metallic finish, decent.

Draught @ Taphouse Grill, Seattle, WA. Pours dark reddish orange with a smooth head. Aroma of caramely malts and toffee. Taste is malty, sweetish and heavy with toffee and caramel notes. Finish is smooth and sweetish with some malts and toffee. Okay.

On tap at The Local, pours a hazy dark orange with a small beige head. Aroma brings out light notes of caramel and a touch of wood. Flavour is along the same lines, with gentle caramel and bready notes. Not a robust scotch ale by any means, but rather a light and drinkable one. Solid stuff, just not what you expect from such a style.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours dark brown with a creamy/foamy beige head. Aroma is malty. Somehow it has a cola note. And a grapey note. Med body or better. Flavor is grapey, malty with some earthiness. It is very tasty to me (just coming off a decent brown ale). I think there’s a very mild smoke note. Or not. There is certainly a nice fruit component. I’m really liking this.
