Belgian Style - Quadrupel / Dark Strong Winter Out of Production
Score
7.29
ABV: 10.0% IBU: - Ticks: 53
Brewed in the authentic style of Belgian winter, or noel beer, is dark, strong, malty and assertively spiced. It is not a lightweight beer, and is best sipped before a roaring fire, or on a sleigh ride over the hills to Grandma’s house. (Let someone else drive.) It would also be a tasty accompaniment to dark roasts and wild game. Even with its strong ABV, this beer is well-balanced and not at all hot or fiery. The dark malts give it lush, malty flavors and aromas, strongly complemented by the five spices, including coriander, cumin, mace, cardamom and grains of paradise. Hopping is modest, as befits such a beer.

355ml bottle. Pours a murky red-orange with yeast particles in suspension and a medium, creamy, long lasting, tan head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, toffee, plum, raisin, vanilla, apple, orange peel, cardamom, coriander and Belgian yeast. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, bread, plum, raisin, banana, orange peel, molasses, apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, coriander and Belgian yeast in a dry, mild alcohol finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Enjoyed, has some complexity. A nice sipper.

This was poured into a Corsendonk chalice.
The appearance was a hazy burnt/ruddy brown color with a quickly dissipating slim finger-ed white foamy head. Thin speckled lacing slides into the beer at a decent pace.
The smell starts off with sweet Belgian sugars, end up sliding into some Belgian spices. Light citrus and some cocoa powder.
The taste was basically the same with a sweet ruddy breadiness to it. Sweet Belgian sugars bounce into the aftertaste and gives a quick dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a fair sessionable to sipping feel about it. Carbonation feels good, somewhat light. Smoothness creates a slight stickiness on my tongue.
Overall, no wonder they call it \"Adoration,\" what an absolutely wonderful Belgian strong ale. I know I’d have again.

Pretty light tasting for style and considering alcohol percentage, which is well hidden. Pours dark amber with God head and lacing. Light raisins. Some florals. Light sweet finish. Tap at rustico.
