Sergey's hunt at Oakes Manor
Dark brown colour, almost black. Aroma of chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, bread, alcohol. Good body strength, moderate sweetness, dark chocolate, a bit salty, touch of liquorice, prominent bourbon presence; the elements are well blended together.
Excellent.

Bottle @ Kings Day Tasting 2018. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized brown to dark brown colored head. Aroma is huge bourbon and some vanilla. Taste malts, again huge bourbon and vanilla, sweet liquor soaked dark raisins. Quite nice and full but the alcohol is heavy and very noticeable. Thick texture, average carbonation, full body.

Bottle courtesy of Linus. Black pour with a small frothy mocha head. Roast, chocolate & bourbon in the nose. Moist soil & vanilla. Sweet, bitter, roasty & malty taste. Soft, round & tiny astringent mouthfeel. Heavy & tasty stuff.

Bottle. Pours jet black, with a good, very slowly rising, dark brown head. Aah, the perfect imperial stout look ! even though I am not a fan of the label itself, this beer gets a perfect appearance ! Smell is intense, very full, roasted malts, outbursts of coffee, burnt malts and its bitterness. Taste is intense ! thick, very rich, and extremely full roasted malts. a bitter touch, as well as pure chocolate, hints of coffee, and bourbon than lingers underneath. The vanilla builds up towards the aftertaste. You do get some alcohol, but in no way 15 % of it ! it’s a rather common tasteprofile, but of a very uncommon quality . It does need that little extra something to be perfect ( maple syrup ? or - as cycle has proven before - hazlenut ? ) Nothing here can be said negatively though, and this absence of ’ a little extra unique character ’ is the only thing keeping it from being a straight 5 .
