At De Planck, Ghent; shared with Anke!
Pours hazy brown with a big, lasting, foamy, tan head. The aroma contains dark chocolate, raisin, roasted malt, cream, caramel, liquor (creamy jenever) and yeast. It tastes medium caramel-like sweet and light to medium toasty bitter; shortish, hoppy finish with a touch of warming alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Very pleasant.

Name as on the label is in fact Ambiorix Brown en français dans le texte Towering, dense, quite stable brownish cream-coloured head, leaving some lace over deep red-brown beer. Creamy nose with a lot of dark malts, melanoidins, chocolate, dark green leaves, undergrowth, rainwater. Sweet, roasted taste, melanoidin-rich, with a small sourish hint, enforced by the heavy carbonation. Good balance and typically Walloon profile, ironoxide included. Warming ip, arachide - fatty acids? Medium bodied, slick, dry finish and aftertaste. Very well-carbonated. OK, quite classical. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Urchon Brune on 03 Apr 2004 at 16:36 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6. Original review text: Dark brown, amber shine; fluffy, dense brown head. Creamy , slightly woody nose; sweetish, shrubs. Bitter-woody taste, burnt malts, faint blackcurrant leaves, spicey finish, becomes almondy and even chocolatey warming up. Fairly well-bodied. Bitterness is a fair bit exaggerated, and harsh, unpleasant. I'm not impressed.

--- Beer aliased from original tick of Urchon Brune on 25 Jun 2010 at 13:16 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Original review text: 33cl bottle shared with Tomaz. pours dark brown, tan - creamy head. aroma, dark fruits, some caramel malts and yeast. Plenty of good roast to be noted. flavors, brown sugar, roasted goodness, caramel; dark fruits; fig, date, prune. The overall profile remains malty with a mild touch of yeast in the finish. Some hoppy notes adding a good mix to the finish. This is nicely done, plenty of good roasted malt.
