Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

aroma of ripe fruits, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, and some floral hops. Flavor is sharp, on the hops, with more spice than the aroma Corriander, and cinnamon come thorugh with some cloves. Interesting, and quite complex.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Hazy garnet color topped by a small creamy tan head. Sweet toasted malt nose has yeasty, dark sugar notes. Smooth, dryish dark malt flavor. Notes of cocoa and figs. Warming alcohol in middle. Subtle nutty, earthy, dried fruit and herbal hop finish.

The cork to the 750 ml bottle came out with a distinct pop. Great appearance, a very dark body with a red tinge through the light and a frothy beige top, long lasting. I smell yeast, cane sugar and a little floral. A great entry. The taste is less so. I get some maltiness and a light touch of ripe fruit. It finishes with a surprising dry bitterness. You could do worse with a Belgian style, just not real thrilling here.

07/10/16. Brooklen event at Wine Rack, West Byfleet. Initial strong and sour aroma. A sugary sweetness then develops. Alcohol evident when swirled. Dark brown with a red tint. Off white medium sized head. Surprisingly light bodied. Sweet: spoces and fruit. Dry finish. But surprisingly bland. Just has no depth to it.
