Ale Brewed with Vanilla and Cinnamon
This hardy dark ale starts with a heaping addition of rye which is reinforced with organic cinnamon, giving it a spice-forward nose. Despite its rough-and-tumble name, the beer is balanced by a long boil of specialty malts that create a foundation of sweetness and roast, so that the rye and cinnamon don’t come off as too heavy-handed. Still, save this beer for last, or have your dessert first.

Bottle thanks to Chow. Pours a dark amber with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is leather, vanilla, spice, oak. Thin body, toasted malt, light vanilla, cinnamon, light finish, very good.

On tap at Wolves & People, pours an opaque dark brown with a maroon tinge and a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of cinnamon upfront, followed by vanilla. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of cinnamon upfront, followed by a touch of vanilla. Quite robust on the cinnamon. Medium sweetness, with a robust body. Excellent.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark murky brown color with a soft white head. A big nose of chocolate, yeast, nutty notes. The flavor is ash, dark fruit, some sweeter fruit trying to get in, dark caramel and chocolate, dusty yeasty elements. Very big spicy elements. Quite good, clean and flavorful.
