(Previously labeled Blueberry Lambic). Blueberry is barrel-aged sour ale that combines the traditional Belgian-style sour with blueberries sourced from Michigan and Canada. We ferment our base blonde ale, Basis, over six to eight months in oak tanks to produce tart flavors, fruity notes, and a funky character. Then, we select a blend of individual batches for fruiting with whole blueberries for an additional three months, creating an intense blueberry fruit character with floral and dark fruit aromas. The final blend is bottle conditioned, resulting in a fine carbonation and spritzy mouthfeel. Blueberry is the perfect drink to share with
friends over a plate of good cheese and fresh fruit.

In the spring of 2006, I brewed 300 gallons of top-fermented beer using wild yeast to create a Belgian-style Lambic. We conditioned the beer in oak casks and then initiated a secondary fermentation in the casks using whole fruit from Huber's Orchard in Starlight, Indiana. You should experience a tart, almost sour taste balanced by the aromatic and richly flavorful addition of whole blueberries - perfect to share with friends, and a platter of good cheese and fresh fruit. - Caleb Staton, Head Brewer

No Blaebier, but good anyway. Smooth palate with dry fruit syrup. Red color. Blueberry is perceivable but light. Moderately sour, and more of the house yeast that I have come to recognize.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with no head over a clear, blueberry juice colored body. Aroma is light blueberry, oak and slightly sour. Taste is very fresh blueberries, slight tartness from the berries, but overall, not super tart. Very light carbonation and a water like mouthfeel.

750 ml from tjthresh. This is from the 2008 Bottling. Pour is hazy orange blue brown, with pretty much no head. Aroma of sour blackberry, oak tannins, and vinegar sour. Also, there is an oil graininess which jumps out. Interesting nose - more about the wood than the sour, very tannic. Taste is the sour tart blueberry, with the mineral oak woodiness. Taste is nice, though not as formed as the nose. Palate is dead flat, pretty boring. Overall, nice enough - thanks for sending this one my way, Tom.

750ml bottle shared by YGTBSM, thanks Brad! Thick purple color. Mellow carbonation. Very naturally fruity with mild Brett notes, but mild and subtle in some ways as well. Some wheaty funk. Great stuff.

750ml bottle. 2007. Sourness dominates both aroma and flavor of this lambic. Blueberry is a minor player, but still there. Red/purple body, very little head. The aroma is vingary sour and funky with notes of earthy mustiness. Slight hint of blueberry. The flavor is tart/sour, highly acidic with some blueberry flavoring. Lightly to moderately sweet at the beginning. Dry finish and long dry aftertaste.

Bottle shared by BBB63. Cranberry juice appearance (I would say blueberry juice appearance, but blueberry juice apparently looks like cranberry juice, hence...) with a thin to moderate off-white head. Aroma same as Upland’s other lambics, dusty and cobwebby, funky, with a firm tartness. There is a nice blueberry characteristic evident beneath the funk here. Tart, sour body, with a good crisp mouthfeel reminiscent of sparkling juices. Also dusty, molded hay and blueberry. Quick finish. Very good.

Madness@the Moose YEHA. Provided by MrBendo, woohoo thank you. The color is a deep purple-red. Aroma is sweet blueberry jam with brett. Taste is light sour that comes straight from the brett. It is a nice light sour beer just a bit simple in its brett sourness. Still nice, especially with the blueberry.
