The Moinette Bio* is a top fermentation, blond beer with refermentation in the bottle. It was created in 1990 and is, together with the Saison Dupont Bio*, one of the first two organic* beers. The Moinette Bio* has the combination of malt aromas, fruitiness and fine hops. It is very thirst-quenchening and strikes a fine balance between mellowness, fruitiness and bitterness. The long refermentation in the bottle ends up in a very complex beer. The production is being controlled by Certisys and has the label Biogarantie®.

Finally found my notes on this little gem // 33 cl. bottle @ the local mini-golf, way, way better of an option than I had expected there honestly // hazy golden orange with a creamy white head // bitter slight floral Belgian hops on the nose blended with Belgian yeast and spices // plenty of Belgian yeast going on here, touch apricot, light great yeasty & lightly fruity touch sweetness in front, enjoyable bitterness in the finish, touch floral with plenty of spices, great Belgian style hops, not the most common of thing, very nice bitterness going on here, spices work amazing // lightly grainy body, great texture and carb.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria 12oz draught ($10): Pours a hazy gold with a white head. Aroma of weird funky yeast: a bunch of grass, almost skunky in a way, and some more funk. Taste is much as expected. However, this beer has more sugar than I would have expected. In a sense, it is not dry enough. Malt backbone may be a little too much. In any case, the funk makes up for it in most aspects. A good, but not great, saison.

Tap @ the beer kitchen kc. Moderately cloudy, yellowish orange appearance with creamy, white head. Delicate blend of orange, apple, and various tropical fruits, spicy yeast, little pepper nose. Excellent aroma! Somewhat spicy, light tartness, light pepper, and lots of tropical fruits in the flavor with a slightly dry, fruity finish. These kind of saisons made me fall in love with the style.

330 mL bottle of "Foret." Pours dark golden with a lot of sediment and a white head. Yeasty clove and banana aroma with spices and honey. Flavor is also quite yeasty, bubble gum, clove, and banana, with spices, honey biscuit, herbs, red apple. Bits of oxidation show this isn’t the freshest bottle, but it’s very nice. Dry, tasty, great saison.

Green bottle: Skunky, funky, shitty, lemon and hay aroma. Hazy amber, thick head. Lemon zest, well funked, barley malt flavor. Alcohol barely noticeable. A bit of lemon zest in the finish, but otherwise rather clean. Not terribly exotic, but quaffable and refreshing.

25 cl bottle, BBE 06/2012. Rated on 24.6.2011
Tested in vertical with Saison Dupont Biologique. Yeasty aroma, but still fresh with citrus fruits and peaches. Flavour is yeasty too, with citrus and peaches. Wins the vertical by one point since this is richer than Dupont Biologique.

Sampled from a 750 ml corked green bottle this beer poured a very hazy golden color with an enormous soapy orange-white head that lingered forever and left great lacing. The aroma was tangy bread, biscuit and tart lemon. The flavor was Sweettart candies with a dry and perfumey presence and a faint undertone of bread. The finish was long, tart lemon and perfume. Moderately full bodied. Ok.

@dmacs-2 yr old 750ml bottle-thanks to EZAnt for sharing–pours a foamy white head with trailing lace and slightly hazy gold color. Aroma is grassy/spice, light malt, yeast. Taste is grassy/spice hops, sweet light malt, drying/yeast. Good effervescence.

This beer scores pretty average, but i didn’t like the mouthfeel. Just another beer on my list, will not remember this very much.
