The Moinette Bio* is a top fermentation, blond beer with refermentation in the bottle.
It was created in 1990 and is, together with the Saison Dupont Bio*, one of the first two organic* beers.
The Moinette Bio* has the combination of malt aromas, fruitiness and fine hops.
It is very thirst-quenchening and strikes a fine balance between mellowness, fruitiness and bitterness.
The long refermentation in the bottle ends up in a very complex beer.
The production is being controlled by Certisys and has the label Biogarantie®.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Pours a coudy Orange color with a rocky mousse-like white head. Aroma is of farmhouse yeast and earthy malt. Upfront, flavor is bitter lemon peel, crackers and dryish malt. Earthy barnyard character throughout. Dry bitter finish. Tasty and enjoyable.

On tap @ Mad For Beer (Rome). Dorata, lievemente torbida, schiuma bianca abbondante e persistente.

The organic Moinette from one of the pioneers in organic beers in Belgium, also tasted as Oelegems Titsenbier. Moussy, irregular, off-white, stable head over a deep, warm golden blonde beer with peachy hue and medium fizz, clear at first but deeper peach and cloudy with deposit. Aroma of orange peel, green banana, grass, sweet potato, white pepper, clove-like phenols, baker’s yeast, bitter honey, peach. Estery fruity onset, apricot, pineapple and green banana, sweetish with sourish undercurrent, medium carbo, soft, supple mouthfeel, nice bready middle, spicy phenols on top while fruity esters continue, yeasty-accented finish especially after adding the sediment, nice spicy and earthy hop bitterness, some warming ’jenever’-like alcohol. Among the first organic beers in Belgium and still one of the best, perhaps a bit lesser in body and character than the regular version, but this is a minor detail.
