This creation from our brewmaster is based on a 100-year-old recipe of Ottakringer and for sure will make hearts of beer lovers beat faster. This historic beer composition made from Viennese malt, melanoidin malt and the finest Saaz hops captivates with its striking, amber reflections. The Wiener Original has a fine nutty note, and a flavour that transcends into an elegant malt aroma. The Wiener Original leaves a distinct yet gently bitter after-taste.

Jun. ’14. A 0.5 l can courtesy of Marko, thanks for sharing! It poured clear amber body with medium sized head. Rather weak aroma, grainy, toasty and touched with a bit of dog food. Flavor was bittersweet, reflected aroma, but a bit more pleasant and rounded, creamy on palate. Medium bodied with longer, again, toasty and grainy finish. Nothing special here, but okay for a macro.

Bottle from a Billa in Vienna. Pours rather orange with a white head. Malty/fruity aroma. Med body. Flavor is malty, a tad fruity, and somewhat hoppy. Nicely bitter finish. A Vienna amber in Vienna. Here, not bad. Home, well ...

Bottle @ Greg’s dump. Pours a golden appearance with a tan head. Cardboard, toasted malt, slightly corny, caramel aroma. Bland, toasted malty, caramel, light fruity flavor. Kind of old but not all that good anyhow.

Already had it on tap at ORF’s Europe Sings thingy in Vienna where my choir was performing, but didn’t rate it for obvious reasons. Brought it back and shared it with heavy. Poured a lovely amber body with a medium sized thick white head. Malty, toasty aroma, dry. More of the same in the creamy taste. They seem to be going for this as their mainstay and it stands head and shoulders over their regular lager. A commercial Vienna that Vienna has no reason to be ashamed of.

Bottle. Amber, clear body, with small, creamy, white head. Light aroma of grains, bread, roasted malt, metal, some malt sweetness. Tastes of toast, metal, grains, bread, nuts, herbs. Mouthfeel is medium, with a medium carbonation and it finishes light bitter-roasty, with bread, herbs and metal. Didn’t enjoy this much, too thin and with some unpleasant metallic aromas.
