Bottled "Merkendorfer Märzen", 5.4 %
Amber brown color, small white head. Malty, a bit caramelly aroma. Papery, leafy, a bit unbalanced ryeish malty flavor. A bit odd, but same time drinkable märzen.

(Draught "Bayrisch Anstich" at Akkurat, Stockholm, 11 Oct) Amber colour with huge, creamy, white head. Malty nose, slightly creamy with nutty toffee notes. Malty, nutty taste with toffee and fudge. Lovely hoppy notes in a finish dominated by a grassy, dry, almost metallic bitterness. Lovely beer, almost in perfect harmony.

(bottle, from the brewery) Clear, orangey amber colour with a mid-sized foamy, slightly off-white head. Moderately sweet and slightly toasted malt aroma with liquorice. Bittersweet flavour, medium body, smooth carbonation. Toast-malty taste with light notes of caramel, liquorice and a fruity tinge; dry and herbal hoppy finish with a rather strong but still well-rounded bitterness. Excellent Märzen.

Bottle: deep golden to light amber coloured, small foamy layer; malty, toasted nose with a tinge of alcohol and a light bitterness; sweet-bitter flavour, pleasant MF; sweetish-bitter finish distinctive , almost lingering hoppy aftertaste. Well balanced Märzen.............

An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma contains lots of caramel, but also notes of straw and yeast - as if it has been warm fermented. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of caramel, and with a dry end with primary notes of straw.

Rerate from tap. Good chewy cookie malt. Grassy hops, dry, moreish. Old rating: 6 5 5 2 10 Bottle
Hazy orange amber colour, creamy tanned head. Honeyish, spicy, somewhat diacetylic aroma. Caramelly malt base, hops far in the background. Lightbodied. Overall disappointing, but knowing the overall quality of this brewerys other beers it might very well be a fluke.

Sampled draught at Brauerei-Gaststätte Hummel, Merkendorf.
Dark amber. Fatty malt aroma. Malty, but clean. Rounded mouthfeel. It is dry for a märzen, and has a lovely, grassy malt aromatic finish.
