Atomium Premier Grand Cru, created in 2000 is one of the only 6 grain top fermented golden ales in the world. The combination of barley, spelt, rye, maize, wheat and buckwheat as well as and a specific, typical barm culture give Atomium its incomparable character. The finest malted barley varieties, selected especially for this high-temperature fermentation specialty give the beer its delicate, golden color and leave a pure, dry taste. The zests of oranges from the island of Curaçao and the coriander seeds leave the beer lover with a full-bodied, balanced flavor palate. The clear golden-bronze color and rich creamy head are distinctive characteristics of Atomium beer. It is refermented in the bottle according to the renowned Belgian method.

Golden, hazy with short, white head. Light, malty aroma flecked with notes of citrus. The flavor is more pronounced than the aroma, but not by much — orange, lemon, apple with a peppery finish along with mild spice/yeast aftertaste. Thin body and moderate finish. Seems too timid and simple for a Belgian Strong Ale.

Pour is a clear yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is floral and yeasty. flavor is fruity (pear and grapes) and finishes with a touch of lemon. Sweet but not to the point of overpowering and quite tasty.

Hazy yellow color, foamy white head. Fruity, sweet yeasty aroma. Dry oaky mouthfeel with bitter finish. Quite thin bodied with some alcohol in the middle. Aftertaste has lemon and is quite dry. Balanced, but not really in the world class.

Muddy orange, end of bottle full of UFO’s; huge dense, off-white head. Sourish, wheatish smell (or another of the six...), citrus zeste. A bit scorched, very much citrus zeste, quite sharp taste. Then filling in, getting sweet and spicey retronasal. Spices (unidentifiable) impose themselves in the finish, to the detriment of the balance and making the beer again more sharpish-bitter. Very well-bodied, nearly porridge-like, slick. In the aftertaste, the scorched flavours disappear. One of the better Van Steenberge commanded beers. It is supposed to be a 100% original recipe, which is a rarity for this brewery.

A hazy orange beer with a small white head. The aroma is sweet yeasty with hints of spices. The flavor is sweet and way too yeasty.

Cloudy golden color; creamy head. A real Grand Cru, with a strong malty and spicy aroma, dry; light fruitness developing later. High carbonation, but very smooth, again with malt and spices. Pretty short final.

Cloudy golden color, with a medium-size longlasting creamy head. Aroma is sweet, cheesy, citrus. Taste is citric, spicy, bit sharp of alcohol perhaps. Palate is lasting, sweet spices with a touch of alcohol. Triple like beer, which is pretty good and recommendable.

Golden coloured with creamy head. Fruity (apple) nose with a hint of herbs. Full bodied, malty and grainy. Sweet. Rich, but short flavour followed by a fruity finish.
