Bottle from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Black with next to no head. Has a strength, which is noticeable in its dark, slightly roasted malt nose. Sweet and sour at the same time, neither of which are overbearing, with a sticky texture.

Keg at ubrew. The app lost my rake. Dark black coloured pour with a thin loose off white head. Aroma is sharp woody sour, tart apple. Brown sugar, and salt. Flavour is composed of medium puckering sour granny smith apple and acid mineral and salt. Slightly mouldy wood. Palate is sharp and tangy, moderate carbonation, little flabby. Not a big fan of this.

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of roast, lightly earthy dung, dark stone fruit. Taste is more roast and prunes, dark chocolate, faint soy. Light saline note comes through. Fruity on the finish. Nice.

330ml bottle. Pours black with receding tan head. Aroma is cola, sherbet, marzipan and spice. Taste is a short hint of roast before a complex salty sour character, introducing tart hedgerow berries, plums, molasses and light ash on the finish. A bit unbalanced in terms of the fruitiness against the roast, but it’s still enjoyable.

Tap. Pivni, York. Murky, dark, cola brown. Film of dense, light tan head. Nose has dark, roast malts. Soft liquorice. Dark berry tang. Taste is tart, and roasty dry. Great mouthfeel. Smooth, and airy, and with fairly light carbonation that matches the roast notes well. Finishes tart, fruity, and light bitter. Only right on the close is there a saltiness, but its still a really well joined up beer. (The missus, however, says it’s like drinking Oxo cubes!).

Bottle. Beermoth, Manchester. Hazy, dark brown. Halo of tan head. Coffee malts. Vanilla. Dark chocolate. Tart, red berry. Smells great. But nothing like I expected. Taste is tart, green coffee bean. Tart fruit. Some dryness. Lick of salt. Smooth, creamy palate. Light acidity. Finishes pretty much all of that.

Flaske 330ml kjøpt på Piccadilly Tap Manchester. Delt med Rune på tog mellom Manchester og Hull 23 Nov 15. Svart. Litt skum langs glasset. Lett syrlig aroma. Eple. Smaken er syrlige bær. Avslutter tørt & fruktig. Etiketten kaller den “Imperial Black Gose”. Treffende.
