The Chimay Triple, which is the brewery’s most recent creation, is labelled “Cinq Cents” in 75 cl bottles. It was introduced in 1986 on the occasion of five hundred years of the principality of Chimay. It is the youngest of the Chimay beers.

Eingetrübte gelbe Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Malziger, hefiger, fruchtiger, hopfiger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, fruchtig, würzig, hefig, leicht hopfig. Mittlere Süße mit mittlerer Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.

Bottle (18-738) pour from Total Wine & Liquor, Burlington. Appearance is cloudy orange-light brown (lots of fine dark floaties in suspension) with nice sparkle, 2-finger width rocky foamy off-white head with excellent retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is classic European carboardy/cracker malt, yeast, sweet and tart fruit, mild perfumey/floral and spices. Taste is fruit, candied sugar and spices, sandalwood. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with thin, frothy texture, soft carbonation, nice alcohol warmth and crisp, dry finish as taste. Overall, nice complexity--especially in the aroma--though not my favorite smells and some are pretty mild, and nice flavor. Quite good.
