The Chimay Triple, which is the brewery’s most recent creation, is labelled “Cinq Cents” in 75 cl bottles. It was introduced in 1986 on the occasion of five hundred years of the principality of Chimay. It is the youngest of the Chimay beers.

Excellent trippel, classic in every way, offering up tons on fruity esters and moderate candi sweetness, with notes of apple, lemon, flowers, grass, candied orange peel, and a mild bitterness on the finish. Exuberant carbonation is something American versions can never nail down. Just a great pint.

330ml bottle. Murky brown with a lovely creamy off-white head. Aroma of malts, stone fruits, orange, grassy hops. Taste is sweet malts with apricot, and some grassy hops. Full bodied with a very lively almost frothy carbonation on the palate. My view is the fuller the body the less carbonation you need. Its a nice triple but overrated in my view.

Bottle at home, golden beer, small head. Aroma is malt, some yeast, sweet, fruit. Taste is the same, some citrus/lemon, bittersweet, nice one as always.
