Bottle at Magnumpalooza. Pours a hazy ruby orange with small off white head. The aroma is grape skin and floral. Thin body, tart grape juice, light acidity, very good.

(750ml bottle from Bottlecraft Little Italy, SD) Beast of a bottle to get open, insanely thick wax followed by gushing the second the cap popped. Pours a deep salmon colour edging towards red, with a whitish head that evapourates quickly but continues to build up again in the glass for minutes. Very active carbonation. Nose is tart, pretty heavily funky and showcases the grape additions with a fruity sweetness, notes of pale cherries, currants, light raspberries, less jam and more fresh fruit, heavy oak and wine barrel notes, tobacco, prominent wet earthy funky yeast and barnyard quality, a bit of sulphur, heady stuff all around. Flavour is really wine-grape dominated, super fruity, lemony lactic acidity. Notes of sour cherry, strawberry, currants, raspberries, a bit herbal, twigs, oak, moderate wet earthy funk, quite drying and mineral in the back, soft tannins, lots of lingering berry notes. Lightish body and soft effervescent carbonation. Really nice complex brew, the 25% spontaneous fraction seems to have upped the intricacy vs. Eau de Vine Rouge. Impressed by Toolbox/Bottlecraft here!
