Muffin Top combines the attributes of a Belgian Tripel with a huge burst of American hops. Intense flavors from the Belgian yeast, reminiscent of candied fruits, mix with the hop bitterness and sweet orange peel to create a unique take on a Belgian-Style ale.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Half Time, 10/14/12

Aroma: The nose has some lemon peel, a little peach, some Belgian yeast, and mild spice
Appearance: It pours a mostly clear orange color with a small off-white head and some sticky lace
Flavor: The taste is light-medium sweet, fairly fruity, with some medium hop bitterness as well
Palate: The body is medium, it is smooth and slightly sticky, with average carbonation, and a dryish finish
Overall Impression: I thought this one is well-made. I really enjoyed what they were doing here, and I thought the Belgian and IPA style combination worked well. I like Clown Shoes' beers in general, and I thought this one was quite good.

Bottle @ Really Late Ulfborg Summer Tasting, 2012. Pours cloudy golden with a creamy head. Yeasty and fruity. A bit of vanilla and caramel. Medium bodied. Bitter dry end. One of the most overrated breweries in the database.

Bottled. An unclear dark golden beer with a huge yellowish head. The aroma has notes of hops, malt, lemons, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of fruits, yeast, malt, straw, alcohol, and lemony hops, leading to a dry finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 65 cl. Pours a cloudy opaque orangey golden bordering amber with a rich and frothy off-white head with quite some laces. Fruiy, yeasty aroma with some perfumy aroma hops. Rich body, sweet fruit, a leathery Bretty note, loads of Belgian yeast, syrupy almost, with a solid late hop bitterness. Still, Belgian yeast and aroma hops is no favourite of mine. 100912

22 ounce bottle. Brassy amber color topped by a massive rocky beige head. Sweet fruity malt aroma hints at Juicyfruit gum, melon and peaches. Wow, their is a lot here. Again, more sweet fruit malt flavor that touches on peaches and orange peel. Nice warming alcohol flavor. Citrusy hops show up late and make this one complex and interesting quaff. Nice clinging belgian lace. Nicely done!
