Overhead is the perfect beer for celebrating after you’ve had a choppy day that got a little hectic but in the end, you rode it out like a champ. Overhead is our 8.2% Imperial IPA loaded with our favorite hops; Amarillo, Simcoe, Citra, and Columbus, and includes two rounds of dry hopping to create a cascade of pine, resin, and citrus hop flavors that consume your palate. Similar to Head High in its unique flavor, but a completely different experience due to the brewing process which produces a dry, crisp finish.

Pours a golden orange appearance with an off white head. Fair amount of tropical fruit, smarties, slightly herbal aroma. Kind of juicy, dry herbal / grassy, mango, pineapple flavor. Light to moderate sweetness. Moderate bitterness. Not all that bad.

Growler from Canal’s in Lawrenceville, NJ. Cloudy amber orange color. Small creamy white head with nice lacing. Huge piney grapefruit hop aroma. Rich buttery toasted malt flavor is quickly dominated by a big resiny grapefruit hoppiness. Plenty of peppery spiciness in finish. This is very well balanced and well crafted. As DIPA’s go, this is outstanding without being overpowering.

Growler thanks to Dean! Pours a clear orange gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a strong hop presence with pine and resin as well as a touch of onion and just a bit of a sweet grain backbone. Flavor starts with sweet grains and pine but has growing notes of resin and a hint of onion.

Location: Draft at HopsScotch, 10/5/12
Aroma: The aroma is apricot and citrus fruit hops, with some resin too
Appearance: It has a cloudy orange pour, with a lasting head, and heavy lace
Flavor: This one tastes a bit sweet and fairly heavy bitter, the flavor feels on style here
Palate: The body of this beer is medium, it feels somewhat creamy, and has average carbonation
Overall Impression: I thought this was a very solid example of the style, from a NJ Brewery that I was previously unaware of. Since this one was pretty good, I look forward to trying more beers from Kane.
