Designed to challenge the senses as well as perceptions, this is an easy-drinking, strong flavoured and spiced stout. This beer has captured the imagination and the fans across the UK and in America, even gaining an honourable mention in the 2013 Brussels Beer Challenge.
Taking you on a journey to South America, via Yorkshire, drinking this 6.5% Chipotle Chocolate Stout is a journey in itself. Rich heady chocolate on the nose, it’s all about deep luscious stouty goodness throughout with a soft mouthfeel. Just as a coffee bitterness develops, and you’re thinking that the party’s over, a subtle dry heat arrives that not only leaves your mouth tingling, but also thirsty and gasping for another taste. The Mayans smoked their chillis, and rather than brew with smoked malt, which can add to the bitterness, we used freshly smoked dried chipotle chillis to add an extra layer of flavour.

Bottle. Ruby body with a beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of chocolate milkshake, fig and green pepper. Flavour of dark chocolate with a chilli burn. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Too spicy for me.

Keg, half-pint shared with Finn at Alexandra Hotel. Tiny beige head. Jet black body. Inviting chocolate aroma, sweet. O’boy taste with a very strong chipotle smoked chili ending. Very slow sipper. Almost undrinkable (Derby 19.02.2016).

Fra fat på Alexandra Hotel i Derby 19 Feb 16. Delt med Rune. Svart. Skum langs glasset. Lett sjokoladearoma. Smaken er O’Boy - i 3 sekunder. Så slår chilien til og ødelegger alt.

Keg at the Blue Moon, Cambridge. Dark, dark brown with the tiniest of tan heads. Smells of milk chocolate, like a lovely little milk stout. Then you taste it and the chilli hits you full on. Hot, sweet/savoury and intense. Burns, burns burns well after the beer itself is gone. A wonderful marriage of beer and chilli. Won’t be to everyone’s taste but my dear Christ it is to mine.

Keg at Berkhamsted beer shop, Berkhamsted, Herts. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Chocolate, chilli, malty aroma. Tastes similar, chocolate, chilli, malty, bitter/sweet. Quite rich, I really liked it but half a pint was enough.

Danke an McTapps fürs Teilen! Schokoladig-dickflüssig, nicht zu scharf, vollmundig, lecker dickflüssig, leicht herb im Nachgeschmack. Toll.
