This medium-bodied ale is characterized by its rich, malty sweetness. The interplay of five different malts provide a slight toffee and chocolate flavor profile. This is the dark beer that light beer drinkers love. A favorite of DC 101’s "Elliot in the Morning" crew before, after and during Cap’s hockey games.

$1.01 from each pint sold will be donated to Olie (Kolzig) and Elliot’s Great Saves Program.

Cask at Churchkey. Clearish maroon, massive delicate lacing. Aroma of caramel. Taste of malt, light spice, including cinnamon and nutmeg. Pretty good. 3.1 Re-rate: Draft at the chophouse. Tasted even better, more of a smokey and chocolate edge. 3.7

Overall Impression: Probably my favorite of the beers I tried there, it wasn't an overly impressive brew, but it had a really nice nuttiness to it that made it pretty enjoyable. A nice, highly drinkable Brown Ale, that exceeded my expectations from this brewery.

Dark mahogany color. It has a light aroma of roasted malt. The flavor has well has roasted malt first, light caramel and ashes. Dryish mouthfeel, and makes me think an ashtray has been poured in the mash. Controversial.

Dark brown color; creamy head. Light caramel aroma. Dry mouthfeel, too weak, with some caramel flavor, and low bitterness. Boring.

A dark amber beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of nuts - I find it too light. The flavor is sweet malty, but also with a creamy sour milk note - not a brewing flaw, but still a drawback in my opinion. The end is dry and woody with a light bitterness.
