16/6/2022. Cask at the 30th East Anglian Beer & Cider Festival, Bury St Edmunds. Pours clear dark ruby red brown with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma of cherry, light roasted malt, black forest gateaux. Quite sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, slightly slick, low carbonation. Rich dark cherry finish, became a little watery. Quite liked it.

ORIGINAL REVIEW : Cask at Curious Gnome, Chester. Pours a dark reddish brown with a small foamy cream head. This was served far too cold, so not surprisingly I couldn’t detect much of an aroma – just some vague hints of dark fruits. In the mouth it was smooth and creamy with dark cherries very much in evidence. Liquorice and malts were detectable too, and the finish was dry and sticky. Reasonable enough – but I think I preferred the Cherry Dark. RERATE 23/4/22 : cask at Kings Yard, Shifnal. Again served too cold, but this time nowhere near so bad, so I was able to detect some malts and cherries in the aroma. Otherwise pretty much as previously described.
