330ml bottle. Opaque, drkest brown colour with slightly late awakening, small, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, dark beige head. Sweet-ish and slightly roasty, minimally bready and spicy, dark and caramel malty, minimally yeasty fruity aroma, hints of treacle, dark caramel, some dried fruit, a touch of plum, plum butter, blackcurrant. Taste is rather neutral, minimally bready, dark malty, slightly yeasty fruity and minimally tart-ish, tannic, woody, hints of blackcurrant, prune, blue grapes, low residual sweetness; very well hidden alcohol.
Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, fine, soft, creamy carbonation.
Somewhat vinous fruity, seemingly light, BA character somehow - enjoyable, not what I expected.
Expected way more substance and sweetness; this is a very mild, vinous fruity, dark Sour Ale. As my Joppenbier experience is quite restricted (for self-evident reasons), I may have to adjust my expectations concerning this style.

Bottle at home. Looked into what this style is. Quite an odd duck here. Dark pour minimal head. Nose is umami and dark fruit. Tastes of molasses, mushroom, soy, dates, toast. Chewy palate. Syrupy which is true to style
Hides booze pretty well

Not sure what a Jopenbier should be like, or what kind of mushrooms are used? Some sort of dark, malty thing, nicely roast, soft. Definitely got some damp cellar earthy mushroom character, but might be the name. Dangerous ABV.

Bottle courtesy of Jonas and Ursula, we had this after a day at Hallertauer Bierfestival weekend, Attenkirchen Saturday 25th June 2022 in the company of Jonas and Ursula. Pours as Jonas accurately described as dark brown heading towards black, murky, a filmy light beige head atop. Tart, dark fruits, dry finish, also as Ursula suggests there is liquorice here. Good beer.
