Bottle. Black with a light tan head that settles to a fat coat. Toppy aroma of whiskey, vanilla, light roast, mocha. Barely medium bodied. Briefly sweet then quite bitter and a little overtly boozy with a (sappy?) harshness.

12 oz. Aroma of cocoa, maple syrup, bread, wood, light bourbon. Pours black with no real head, just a thin skiff and collar of beige foam. Taste is moderately bitter and lightly sweet, finishing dry. Flavors like the aroma. Not bad at all, but maybe one of the least impressive entries in this series that I've had.

Draft at Caffeina. Near black pour with a foamy beige head. Sweet roasty malt aroma, hint of maple. More sweet roast in the taste, notes of chocolate, light bitterness, vanilla and some bourbon at the finish. Pretty smooth with a nice weight to it.

A 12 oz bottle in hand, I do miss the bombers. A single bought at The Cellar in Odessa this past week, I am ready to taste another Black Butte. The ABGB snifter is arrayed, I make a pour. Black, very black, jet black with a small rim of light tan bubbles. I lift for a sniff, ah, my confidence in life is resumed. Berries, vanilla and chocolate. But the taste is the pursuit here, I get dark chocolate, strawberries, caramel, hay and a bit of booziness. Strongly bitter. And that is good. A fine offering in line with the other Black Buttes. No more, no less.
