Voimakkaasti humaloitu amerikkalainen barley wine eli ”ohraviini. Vimma on hehkuvan punainen täysmallasolut. Sen maku on tyylikäs kokonaisuus vahvaa humalointia, makeaa maltaisuutta ja appelsiinin kuorista saatua hedelmäisyyttä. Vimma syntyi lainsäätäjän ideasta, että pienpanimot saavat myydä alle 12 % vol oluita omasta olutpuodista. Kunnianosoituksemme amerikkalaiselle barley wine -perinteelle, vaikka juoma tuleekin alunperin Englannista. Wine viittaa lähinnä vahvuuteen, joka on viinin luokkaa. Kyseessä on kuitenkin pintahiiva-olut, joka mäskätään kolmeen kertaan. Etikettiä voisi luonnehtia näkymäksi syyssateeseen parin Vimman jälkeen.

Draught @ Kyläravintola Terho Aroma has sweet toffee candy and sugary notes. Flavour has alcohol, sweet caramel malt, tropical fruits and menthol & herbs in the finish. Strong but good! 8-4-7-3-15 33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 14.10.2021 Quite the same but there are clearly tobacco notes present as well. 7-4-7-4-15 = 3.7

SOPP, Turku. A dark brown beer, a head is medium and beige. Aroma has strong dried and generic fruitness, also some fresh fruits, some pine. Taste has richness of maltyness, caramel, dried fruits, pine and bitterness. Full bodied, smooth. Great balance and US style as promised. Great beer.

Tap at SOPP Hki 2017. Smell of raisins. Hazy dark amber colour. Aroma of raisins, overripe fruit, malt, hops. Very sweet. Mid-flat carbon. Generally a decent barley wine. A bit unsurprising, perhaps.

Tap @ Olhus kobenhavn. Poured amber color with a thin white head Amber, deep, thick white head. Bready, boozy, dark fruity aroma. Flavor has booze, malts. Heavy boozy brew. Not for me.

Draught@Lakeuden Panimojuhlat 2017. Deep amber colour, small head. Aroma is fruity, floral, quite boozy with some ripe and dried fruitiness as well. Flavour is ripe fruits, dried fruits, mild fruity and floral notes with a quite sharp alcohol bite to it. Feels like this would win some on being aged and hence mellowing out a bit. As for now it’s a bit too sharp for it’s own best.

Tap at Bier-Bier. Hazy dark amber color, small off-white head. Strawberry, toffee and malts in the nose. Medium-bodied. Toffee, alcohol, malts and strawberries in the flavor. Rough, boozy.

(Re-rate, bottle, 0.33 l - BB 15.01.2021, from the brewery, 20201210) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, prunes and caramel. Palate was medium bodied and rather dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, grass, prunes, toasty notes and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. A pleasant malty brew that showed its high ABV only little. (Old rating, Keg at Bier-Bier, 20170111) The beer poured deep amber and almost clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had sweetness, booze and apples. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, booze, apples, more booze and bitterness. Aftertaste was boozy and bitter. An unpleasant boozy brew. Score: 2.2

Tap at Bier-Bier, Helsinki. Colour is cloudy orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Sweetness, sugar, berries, strawberries and malts. Very bad drinkability and super sweet. Good beer for those who like strawberry jam.
