Olutpaja Haastaja on maltainen englantilaisvaikutteinen kuparinpunainen pintahiivaolut. Maltaisuudessa keksimäisyyttä ja karamellia. Humaloinnissa käytetty englantilainen Challenger tuo tuoksuun hedelmäisyyttä ja mausteisuutta. Katkeruus on kuitenkin maltillinen. Hiivana englantilainen hedelmäinen pintahiiva. Tyylin mukaisesti erittäin juotava, maukas ja tasapainoinen olut. Miedosti tammitettu.

Kaunis kirkkaan punertavanruskea olut runsaalla ja todella pitkäkestoisella tiiviillä pilvimäisellä ja pitsiä jättävällä vaahdolla. Tuoksu melko mieto. Hieman maltainen ja jonkinlaista puumaista havuisuutta sekä ehkä aavistus eksoottista hedelmää ja karamellia. Maultaan maltainen, puumaisen havuinen, mausteisuutta ja kevyesti eksoottista hedelmää sekä karamellisuutta. Melko kuiva kokonaisuus. Kevyehkö suutuntuma. Ihan nautittava ja pehmeä olut.

Aroma is typical to English ales with toffee, hops, biscuits and some caramel. Also hayish malt. Flavour is malty with cereal – very typical to Olutpaja. Also some menthol-like hops, toffee and biscuits. Very clean EPA. This is just not a beer style for me still.

Smell of malts, grain. Hazy copper colour, high beige head. Aroma of malt, grass, some hop. Bitter. Flat carbon, rather light texture, mid-heavy body. Rather easy to drink, but despite the name, does not challenge in any way.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 20.08.2016, from M Tullinpuomi, 20160331) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had caramel, toffee and mildly earth. Palate was medium bodied with rather high carbonation. Flavours were grass, toffee, caramel, malts, toasted bread and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, sweet and bitter. A mild brew with strong and balanced flavours. Too fizzy.

Tap at Gustav Wasa, Vasa. Copper clear color, small white head. Light to medium-bodied. Malty, a bit berryish flavor. English hops. A bit tartish for my liking.

Draught @ Gustav Vasa. Amber color, thin white head. Sweet berry aroma, some strawberries as well. Flavor has nuts, English hops, sweetness. Easy and drinkable.

Draught@Gustav Wasa, Vaasa. Amber colour, medium white head. Aroma is wood, some spruce and a bit grainy. Flavour is wood, herbs, earth and some grainy notes. Dusty. Fresh, but feels old.

Tap at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Colour is clear dark orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Some fruits, dryness, nuts, hops and malts. Dry and clear.
