Black, basicly opaque color, good creamy beige head. Light licorice in the aroma. Light to medium bodied. Burned malty, toasted flavor. Not very hoppy, some bitterness in the finish. Crossover between CDA and British IPA.

Draught @ Kaisla, Helsinki

Pours dark brown, almost black with a large, smooth and foamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, grassy hops, hints of licorice and chocolate. Taste is fruity and harshly bitter with hints of roastiness, licorice and chocolate. Finish is bitter and mildly roasty with some fruitness and long lasting hoppy notes. Perhals a bit too carbonated and a bit unbalanced hop profile, but otherwise quite tasty black IPA.

(Draught at Kaisla, 20121229) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had hops, pine, a little bit of roasted malts and chocolate. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were hops, pine, roasted malts, sweetness, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was mildly roasty and quite bitter. A bit too roasty for a beer I would consider as a Black IPA but still one of the better examples of this pointless style.
