Tap at Olhus Kopenhavn, Helsinki. Colour is black with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Berries, cherries, chocolate, hints of alcohol and roasted malts. Much better than lower ABV version but lacks softness.

Draught@Pub Winston Festival. Deep brown colour, small brown head. Aroma is cherry, chocolate, mild roast as well as some wooden notes. Flavour is quite similar in a quite pleasant balance. Had this one also later at the Mallaskosken pienpanimo-oluet event, where the cherry had wore off from the flavour (at Mallaskoski the beer was on bottle). Rating score = average of both ratings.

A colabrown beer with a quite big and beige head. The nose has roastiness, coffee, some sourness. Taste is similar than aroma, roastiness, coffee, some sourness, hint of smoke and dry roastiness in the end. It’s hard to find cherries. Quite light bodied, easy to drink. Unfortunately, not so good as I expected, no cherries. Basic roastiness.

Tap at SOPP14. Deep brown color, small beige head. Aroma has cherry-chocolate candy aroma. Light-bodied. Flavor has not so much chocolate but some kirsebär cherry flavors. Suprisingly as this is light beer but liquerish notes are there. Otherwise flavor is letdown - some ashy toastyness and even vegetables.

Tap@sopp14. Dark brown, beige head. Roasty, dark chocolate, coffee aroma with some cherry notes. Flavor has roasted malt, chocolate musli, sweetness. Very refreshing, and quite watery. Nice surprise.

Pours dark reddish brown with a smooth head. Aroma of berries, roasty malts, hints of chocolate, cherries and tartness. Taste is smooth, watery and malty with hints of roastiness, cherries and chocolate. Finish is smooth and mildly roasty with mild chocolate notes. Decent, quite light bodied.

(Keg at SOPP Helsinki 2014) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had cough mixture and berries. Palate was quite light bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, berries, cough mixture and acridness. Aftertaste had berries, burnt malts and bitterness. A not successful experiment.

Draught @ SOPP Helsinki 2014
Aroma has deep roasted tones and some chocolate essence. Also some toffee and hay typical to English ales. Flavour has chocolate, well roasted (almost rubbery) malt and some leathery tones. Also gooseberry bush. Watery and thin, did not detect the cherries. --- Beer merged from original tick of Hiisi / Rekola Kaksi Kotia Choco-Cherry 7.5% on 30 Sep 2014 at 09:48 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Original review text: Draught @ Ølhus København. Aroma has porridge, some cherries, mild roastiness and toffee. Flavour has woody tones, tartish cherried and some milk chocolate. Finishes with a bit unpleasant acidic tartness. Better and more rich than the light version. But a bit messy - and this also contains ’oud bruin’ -like tartness, which isn’t a friend of mine.
