Opaque brown color, big creamy brown head. Light coffee notes and licorice in the aroma. Medium-bodied, sticky palate. Toasted, cocoa flavor, notes of licorice. A bit milky! Light tart note in the finish. I prefer 7% version (Baltic Porter).

Draught@Viisi Penniä, Helsinki (shared with Löwis, thanks). backlog. More or less pitch black colour, small brown creamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, ashes, liquorice and some toffee all in a very pleasant and thick balance. Flavour is smoked wet wood, liquorice and toffee in a nice balance with some roasted malts and floral notes kicking in.

(Draught at Oluttupa Viisi Penniä, 20121214) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had roasted malts, liquorice and hops. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were hops, sweetness, roasted malts, liquorice and bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty and bitter. Good balanced roasty beer. Alcohol was well hidden.

Pours pitch black with a nice foamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet licorice, soy sauce and hints of chocolate. Taste is sweet and slick with some roastiness and licorice notes, hints of molasses and soy sauce. Finish is smooth and slightly roasty with some hints of molasses, sweet licorice and warming alcohol. Okay, perhaps a bit too sweet and smooth for a baltic porter. Still quite a nice winter warmer.
