50 cL bottle. Pours orange unfiltered with short lasting head. Aroma is malty sweet, fruit and citric. Taste is sweet malty followed by a rather citric than bitter finish. Surprisingly not infected.

Hazy orange with a lasting off-white head. If I belonged to the rate-to-style school it would score negative for appearance... Weak aromas of apple, hops and caramel - again far from style. Sweet malty flavour with burned plastic that stays as the dominant aftertaste. It’s two months before BB date, so that isn’t the issue in those other cases below. "Drain pour" is not a metafor in this case, but an actual fact.

Bottled. (BB 060805, maybe the problem?) Hazy , golden-orange with a beige head. So far so good. The aroma is sour and chalky with some bonfire-notes as well. The flavor is bonfire, alcohol and some malt. Chalky, medium to thin mouthfeel. Not good, but judging from the other ratings of this beer, the fact that I drank it a month past BB-date doesn’t seem to be the problem. (060914)

Bottled. Hazy nutbrown colour, small white head. Aroma is rubber lists along with plastic pipes. Flavour is rubber, glue and fruits. This is pretty bad in every imaginabla way... A Kölsch? no way.

Bottled (BB 08/2006). Very muddy brown, small white head. Strange fruity glue-like aroma. Carbonated, a bit spicey/fruity/peppery, some sweetness in the finish. Quite strange brew, really unique and not a kölsch at like all despite its name. Some not so good dark sahtis are sometimes like this.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a very unclear amber golden. Extremely lively and helps itself out of the bottle. The fizzy, off-white head dissipates in a matter of seconds. Aroma of malt and diacetyl. Medium body with sweetish malts and quite some fruity accents. An extreme yeast sediment - in the bottle neck of all places. Drinkable indeed but about as far from a Kölsch as you can possibly get. Reminds me more of the same brewery’s "Ale". 040906

A hazy dark orange-red beer with a huge bubbly orange head - not really looking like a Kölsch. The aroma is sweet, but with a sharp plastic note lying behind it, which dominates quite much, but I do pick up light fruity notes too. The flavor is sweet malty at first, but soon a sourish burnt plastic note comes along and starts to dominate, this pretty much last all the way thru to a slightly bitter burnt finish that also has a hint of fruit. This beer has definately never been a Kölsch. The bottle is 3 weeks past the best before date, which probably has an influence on the beer, but I’m sure was not perfect 3 weeks ago - and looking at past ratings probably never have been.
