The name is derived from ‘Cock-a Hoop’, an old custom of removing the cock (or spigot) from a barrel and resting it on the hoop of the cask before commencing a drinking bout, but was changed to reflect the brewery’s location on the banks of the River Cocker.

Clear golden. Fine white head and aroma. Grass and pine shoots in aoma of dry hopping with fine hops. Taste is more neutral, while still grassy. Decently hoppy aftertaste. A bit waterish mouthfeel. Good drinkability.

Cask at the brewery. Golden with a white head. Biscuity malt, peach and a hint of grapefruit in the aroma. Slightly earthy taste with grassy hops and biscuity malt combining to good effect.

Bottle from Co-op. Amber pour with a white head. Citrus and floral aroma. Sweet spice, caramel and a splash of fruit in the flavour. Bitter-fruit finish.

Cask at JDW Bishop Vesey; golden amber pour with smooth white head, whiff of citrus aroma,taste is sweet honey along with sweet malts and a hint of citrus.

Cask at the Globe, Hanslope. Yellow gold. Extremely cloudy at first (Fastcask?) but clears with a full white head. Aroma has a pleasant and unexpected sweetness. Bananas and cream. Taste is unexceptional - sweetness hidden by a bullying bitter flavour. Decent enough but composition is lazy and uninspiring.

Poured a clear medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is malty and not much else. The flavour is medium bitter with a malty liqourice hoppy palate. Refreshing and fine for a session, but nothing special. I’d love to try the cask version.

Pale golden with a diminishing head. A slight aroma which is slightly soapy that is in line with its smooth texture and taste. Not blessed with a huge amount of flavour though.
