The name is derived from ‘Cock-a Hoop’, an old custom of removing the cock (or spigot) from a barrel and resting it on the hoop of the cask before commencing a drinking bout, but was changed to reflect the brewery’s location on the banks of the River Cocker.

Pale golden with a diminishing head. A slight aroma which is slightly soapy that is in line with its smooth texture and taste. Not blessed with a huge amount of flavour though.

Bitter o gożkawym finiszu, ale niestety przy głębokich łykach nie wyczuwa się nadto zbyt wiele goryczy. Piwo nawet ładnie się prezentuje, bo ciecz jest zamklona i leciutko mętna, ładna piana średniej wielkości, ale za to trwała. Finisz goryczkowo-cytrusowy.

500ml bottle at home. Pours clear golden yellow, thin white head. Hih carbonation. Malty aromas, but not much going on. Tastes a bit watery. Overall: A boring tasteless bitter, too fizzy.

Bottle @ Odense Tasting, November 2012. Pours clear drk golden orange with a small creamy white head. Toffee , grain and citrus. Medium bodied.

Golden pour, foamy head. Bit fizzy. Nice crisp flavour, slightly sweet and not much aftertaste. Quite refreshing, could easily drink a few of them.

Bought at an off licence store in Chorlton, 500ml bottle. Crystal clear golden. Spotty lacing from a decent white head. Hoppy aroma in the direction of flowers and with notes of malts. Malt-fruity taste, some notes of bread and citric hops. Mild bitterness to the finish. On the average level (hotel room, Manchester 07.07.2012).
