We added Citra and Simcoe in the whirlpool to create the fruity backbone, and then called hop soldiers: Simcoe, Cascade, Nelson Sauvin and Amarillo joined the party for dry hopping after fermenatation. These troopers are behind the complex aromas of honeydew, grapefruit, orange, pine, earthy woodiness and also some dankness, thanks to a small addition of Nelson Sauvin. Total of 19g/l of hops were used.
The boss behind the beer is the malt, Weyermann's Pilsner. This time we added Munich malt to create some depth to the malt base, but without being too heavy or sweet. We don't use caramalt in our West Coast IPA's for the sake of drinkability. We have noticed that this is a movement also amongst many the OG Californian IPA breweries.
WLP001 helped us with nice clean fermentation and we tweaked the water profile to promote the crisp and mineral foundation.
*This beer is also very tasty when enjoyed with right handed tendencies

From backlog. Draught @ Pien Brewpub, Helsinki. Sweetish, piney and citrusy with some grapefruit, honeydew and hints of bitterness. A bit sweet and not quite west coasty malt profile. Interesting.

Tap at Humala. Orange-golden colour, almost clear, medium-sized white head and lace. Citrus, wood, thinner? in the nose, more pleasant than it sounds. Light-bodied to medium-bodied. Citrus, lime peel, pine in the flavour. Long bitter aftertaste. Ok Westie.

Tap @ Pien Brewpub. Clear golden color. Resiny hops in aroma. Aroma promised a lot, but quite dull flavored, stale and light canned fruity.

(Bottle, 0.75 l - hand bottled, from the brewery, 20211119) The beer poured deep golden and clear. Its head was medium sized, white and it lasted long. Aroma had fruitiness, resin, pine, and black currant leaves. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, resin, black currant leaves, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had grass, resin, fruitiness and bitterness. A nice but bit thin hoppy brew.

Quite pale yellow, clear. 😲 Hoppy and fairly light, dry, piney, crisp. Not really a traditional west coast, but not bad.

Tap at Pien Brewpub, Helsinki. Color is slightly cloudy golden with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Aromas and flavors: Fruits, some pine and eucalyptus?, sweetness, hops, malts... weird aroma.
