Creamy Swiss-style holiday lager, with a malty taste and aroma. Barrel aging adds great flavors, creating more depth and a satisfying complexity. Frogichlaus is mellow and soothing, the perfect beer to settle down for a cold winter's nap. Inspired by a man so lively and quick, we knew in a moment it must be St. Nick!

Can from Tavour at 14.1%. Pours quite dark with a transient, slight tan head. Aroma of chocolate and toasted/burnt malt - kind of like a cookie in a way. Full bodied. Flavor is the aroma with whiskey and some darkish fruit. Not dry. Heat tends to subdue the malt. Gets more like some raisin with time. Very, very nice.

Boozy and warming. Excellent - maybe not so much on a summer night.

(Can, 0.25 l - 2020 vintage - 14.1% ABV , at Arde, 20220305) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had vanilla, caramel, grass and molasses. Palate was full bodied and even thick with medium carbonation. Flavours were caramel, toasted malts, sweetness, vanilla, wood and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, malty, sweet and bitter. A well done strong brew with barrel notes, and still retaining balance.

Can consumed back in Frank, Campervan, Akadamiastrasse, Muenchen Wednesday 2nd March 2022 after a very nice evening at Liebighof im Lehel. Pours reddy/amber, sweet and strong, warming but surprisingly not too boozy. Touches of port and sherry, some dried fruit. Very good but I fell asleep before finishing it. Btw this was the 14.1% version, so 2020 I think?

Hoo boy—quite a stiff slug to the mug with this one. Sweet as all get out, full of toffee, fudge, bourbon, and a little soy sauce, with some oak on the back end. Too rich for my blood.

Clear darkish amber beer, no head to speak of. Smooth and slightly viscous palate, decent fine carbonation. Big soft fruity bourbon dominates. Soft and rich with a nicely integrated barrel induced vanilla. Touches of brandy and brown sugar covered ripe fruits. Mild spice in the smooth ripe fruity finish. Some warmth after the swallow. Very nice ba beer, rich and rewarding. Nothing even remotely lager here but frankly, who cares?

0.355 l bottle from 'Beer Republic', 2019 vintage at 12.4% abv, my personal Nikolaus 2021 night cap. Clear, deep ruby with a few beige bubbles lacing on the glass. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity and quite boozy aroma of molasses, vanilla, lots of bourbon, caramel, gingerbread and raisins. Extremely sweet, big malty, boozy and slightly fruity taste of molasses, vanille, dark honey, lots of bourbon, some gingerbread and a touch of raisins, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, fairly boozy finish. Full body, smooth and oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Really heavy beer, very saturating, more complex than the original due to the barrel-aging. Great for cold winter nights.
