Aus der Dose (Vintage 2020 - 14,1%) im 2021-07 getrunken. Diese dunkle Interpretation des Schloss Eggenberg Samichlaus aus Ohio kommt wie das Orignal extrem malzig und süß daher. Am Gaumen wird man fast von der doch sehr dominanten karamellartigen Süße erschlagen. Wirklich allesandere als ein filigranes Bier und so kann man nicht viel davon genie0en. Ein spannende Erfahrung!

180ml can. Sweet, heavy and malty with loads of caramel, toffee, bourbon, oak and vanilla. Quite soft and complex, nicely balanced and tasty. Good stuff.

25cl can @ olio, BBE 17.08.2023 Vintage 2020, 14,1% Aroma has strong alcohl vibes and fruits typical to American strong ales. Also vanilla and Bourbon. Flavour has alcohol, bourbon and lots of sweet malt. Heavy and strong on bourbon, I wonder what is the non-bourbon version like?

Bottle 2019, 12.4%. A dark brown beer, a head is small and beige. Aroma is intensive, sweetness of dried fruits, apricot, raisin, perry, surprisingly fresh, honey, some barrel. Taste has richness of malts, raisin, dried apricot, quite sweet, some drying barrel. Full bodied, smooth. Brilliant beer, very complex, powerful and intensive, interesting. Edit 13.09.2021, can 2020, 14.1%. No need to change rewiew, so tasteful again.

Bottled. A dark chest-nut brown beer with a fast disappearing beige head. The aroma has notes of wood, bourbon, syrup, malt, caramel, and spices. The flavor is very sweet with notes of syrup, spices, alcohol, malt, wood, bourbon, and caramel, leading to a dry, warming, and alcoholic finish. Is this an American take on Samichlaus? It reminds me of it, though not the bourbon note. This is probably a beer for cellaring.

Ruby-brown colour, tiny head. Vanilla, candy sugar, raisins, alcohol in the nose. Full-bodied. Smooth but powerful. Vanilla, toffee, raisins, spices and some alcohol. Also a bit of hop bitterness. Balanced, strong.

Bottle at home. Pours deep ruby, nose is berries, caramel, fudge, toffee, vanilla, taste is similar, sweet, fruity, fantastic.

Bottle. (thanks Tom) Clear amber/bownish with almost no head. Sweetish with malt, toffee, bourbon, dried fruit and some vanilla. The body was full and the finish with warming alcohol.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours a clear hazelnut brown with absolutely NO head. Super intense Bourbon aroma - nothing but Bourbon actually. Very rich and sweet malty body, close to flat. Layers and layers of sweet caramel, fudge, toffee - you name it. All with a massive addition of heavy Bourbon with sweet vanilla notes. Obvious alcohol in the finish, but not boozy as such. I'm a total sucker for Bourbon, but I actually think I prefer the non Bourbon Frogichlaus. This is a little overdone and one-dimensional. With that said, I'd prefer this over 95% of all beers out there. Why didn't you add at least a little carbonation to this Fred? 221019
