Since it feels like we have been up all night, this is Borrowed Time Baltic Porter. What can we say about Baltic Porters? They come from a complicated part of the world and we nearly lost them in the annals of history. Post-revival they seem to live in the fringes of beer culture. Cervisia esoterica. This dark black lager is classic and true to style by all accounts, featuring notes of black currant, dark roast espresso, molasses, and caramel. It’s deep, rich, and consuming.

very dark brown color. Very thick caramel, molasses, dark fruit. Very thick with slightly roasted malt character. A bit too rich and over the top. But not bad

473ml can. Pours a clear dark brown with red hue and a medium, creamy, short lived, tan head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, brown sugar, black currant, licorice and dark chocolate. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, toffee, molasses, licorice, black currant, dark chocolate and light coffee in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty and ABV is well hidden.
