Bottle (two weeks old!). Pours with a very clear pale yellow body with a massive white head with good retention and lace. Aromas are non-offensive in the slightest, but quite sweet. Very malty, honey, bready, grainy. Light salinity and minerality. Light floral and earthy hop note. Clean fermentation character with light lemon zest. Flavors are lightly hoppy: spicy, herbal. Bready, grainy, biscuit, light honey notes. Still quite sweet, hay and straw. Really nice. Quaffable, light bodied, sweet and smooth with medium bubbles. One of the freshest German beers I have ever gotten in bottles in the US. Also probably the best Helles I’ve had out here. In a BJCP competition this would score quite well, but RateBeer is hedonistic, and this is not my ideal beer. Very good though!

50cl bottle. It pours a golden with a hint of orange colour with some head. On the nose, it is so delicate, it’s quite elusive. Maybe something citrus or floral going on. On the taste, there is lemon and pale malt. The palate is light to medium in structure, light to medium in texture with a lovely light refreshing finish. It cleans beautifully.Overall, a balanced and elegant beer - very typical of the Helles style.

Lively golden pour, with a lasting, thick white head - fairly straightforward nose of clean pale malt sweetness and moderate grassy noble hops - creamy, full mouthfeel, but with a light, quenching body - starts out with some crisp hop character and mild bitterness, but a medium honey sweetness develops through the middle, along with touch of toasted grain character - very simply, clean, and refreshing - quite nice, really.

bottle, bought at Kloster Weltenburg. Clear golden colour with a large and persistent white head. Malty nose. Solid malty background with some lovely herbal and grassy hops. Hints of tropical fruit (amngo, banana) which are rather subtle but suit the character of the beer perfectly. The combination of herbal hops and this subtle fruitiness works fine. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
