A refreshingly hoppy American pale ale, Pipsqueak Penguin is another edition in our "Small Bird Series" of lower ABV offerings, this time brewed for the colder months! The nose is a fusion of lime zest and pineapple. White grape and clementine fill out the flavor profile, balanced by a structured grainy backbone and a crisp, dry finish.

Can, by way of a trade. Fully opaque, pale gold. Swirl of dense, white head. Nose has a slightly unusual, white grape and yellow melon character. Candied pineapple. A tiny bit minty. Soft, sweet grain backdrop. Taste is clean, dry, pithy bitter. Soft sweetness on the lips. Clean and fresh mouthfeel. Crisp, sharp carbonation. Light, lingering, pithy bitterness to finish. Fantastic APA, that feels a little out of the ordinary.

Trillium Canton tap: pours orange with white head. Aroma is slightly citrusy, floral, herbal with malty hints up on there. Taste is fairly dry with a nice little sweetish finish. Interesting and well done.

Tap at Trillium Canton, Boston. Color is very cloudy golden with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Fruits, dryness, citrus, lemon, hops and malts. Dry fresh APA.

From a can at the RB DC tasting on April Fool’s Day 2017 -- thanks to GenDV138. Pours a cloudy gold with an off white head. Fruity nose. Flavors of grass and pine.

16oz can at the April Fools Day DC Ratebeer tasting. Poured a cloudy orange color with a foamy white head. Aroma was citrus, really juicy notes. Light tropical notes? Light earthy notes. Light sweet malts, but the hops really shine in this. Pine notes. Real tasty.

Can shared with Rich cheers mate; murky golden yellow pour with a thin off white head, aroma has light thin off white head, aroma has hint of biscuity malts, taste has citrus, mellow malts.

Thanks Huhzubendah for sharing the can! Poured into a snifter showing hazy orange with a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows pine resin and cannabis. The palate is light bodied and well carbonated. Flavors of light pineapple with a strong mid palate of corn malts finishing on a light cannabis bitterness.

16 oz can shared with DCLawyer. Canned on 2/28/2017. Cloudy orange with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, floral notes, garlic, onion, tropical fruit. Tastes of citrus, floral notes, tropical fruit, garlic. Medium body with a dry finish. Juicy mouthfeel. Flavorful sub 5% pale.

Can shared by Sean. Thanks! It pours a hazy (surprise!) pale yellow color with a white head. The aroma is very tropical with mango being most prominent. The flavor has a bit more spicy dank with grapefruit and tropical fruit.The mouthfeel is creamy, but also lightly astringent. Overall, tasty stuff.

Quite hazy, bronze-golden with some darker maize hues in there and a white head, large but rapidly receding.
Very juicy, nicely aromatic and full of tons of great cherry, lime, mineral and honey. El Dorado isn’t too sharp or citric here and the malts add only light biscuit and honey for balance. No alcohol or flaw.
Juicy in the mouth, with the typical malty-soft palate and low but tight carbonation. Good attenuation, with perhaps, a bit more maltiness/sweetness present than in some of the other small birds. Juicy hops express pineapple, lime, cherry and mango and the finish dries out considerably and has a crisp quality that makes it quite easy to drink. I hate to be a broken record, but even here I get a nagging sharp, odd, off-flavor that I, again, think is this batch of Nelson hops not being in peak condition. Otherwise, fantastic stuff.
